The purpose of the project Bihar Sustainable Livelihood Development (BSLD) is to increase income of the vulnerable households (represented by women) in Choraut Block of Sitamarhi District.
Goal
BSLD project will work with 4,000 families and facilitate in closing the living income gap for 3,000 vulnerable households, represented by women, and another 1,000 will be on the pathway to a sustainable living income by 2025.
Project Activities
- Empowerment and institutional strengthening to focus on women’s empowerment and build social capital.
- Organize, create and strengthen women-led community organizations.
- Goat farming, backyard poultry, agriculture promotion and other supplementary activities for improving livelihoods.
- Promoting natural (organic) farming, promoting vermicompost, SRI (system of rice intensification) and SWI (system of wheat intensification) cultivation.
- Establish/strengthen marketing system.
