BVHA has been selected as an agency to implement Tobacco Free Educational Institute guidelines in 5 districts in Bihar by Education Dept, Govt. of Bihar. BVHA will work in 70 schools in each district, thus covering 350 schools in 5 districts. As per the India’s tobacco control law, the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 (COTPA), discourages tobacco use with provisions like bans on public smoking and sales to minors, and mandatory health warnings. This collaboration with the Education Dept of Govt. of Bihar project in Bihar aims to create Tobacco-Free Schools by raising awareness, engaging school communities, and ensuring compliance with the Act. It involves liaison with Govt. dept, sensitization and training of school teachers, community engagement, and using school events to promote tobacco control.
